artistic advisory board

The first Artistic Advisory Board was appointed by Fonds Belval. It is composed of 5 distinguished personalities from the worlds of art and culture.

The members of the first Artistic Advisory Board are:

Hubertus von Amelunxen

President of The European Graduate School EGS in Switzerland since 2013. Studied literature and art history in Marburg and Paris. Author of books and essays, has curated numerous exhibitions in Germany and abroad, most recently Cy Twombly. Photographs 1951–2010, at the Palais des Beaux-Arts, Brussels. Member of the Berlin Academy of Arts since 2003. Lives and works in Berlin and Switzerland.

Eve Chiapello

Director of Studies at École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS), Paris. Researcher with a focus on the Sociology of the Transformations of Capitalism. Obtained a PhD from Université de Paris IX - Dauphine in 1994 (‘The Modes of Control of Artistic Organisations’). Awarded habilitation to direct research students from Université de Paris IX - Dauphine in 2000 as well as qualification by the French National Council of Universities for the functions of University Professor in Sociology in 2011. Joint holder of École Polytechnique-HEC-Renault Chair for Multicultural Management. Author of Artistes vs Managers – Le management culturel face à la critique artiste (Paris, 1998) and Le nouvel esprit du capitalisme (with Luc Boltanski, Paris, 1999).

Paul di Felice

Lecturer in Art History and Visual Arts Pedagogy and Director of the Visual Arts Laboratory at University of Luxembourg. Publisher, curator and art critic. Co-organiser of annual Art Workshop in collaboration with Casino Luxembourg – Forum for Contemporary Art since 1997. Researcher focusing on representation and deconstruction in contemporary art and the new paradigms in post-photography. Curator and co-curator of numerous exhibitions in Luxembourg and abroad. Coordinator of the European Month of Photography since 2006.

René Kockelkorn

Art historian and secondary school assistant art teacher. Studied Art History in Utrecht and Bonn. Collaborator of Thermal Museum Heerlen (Netherlands) in 1990 and Luxembourg City History Museum/Villa Vauban, Luxembourg National Library, Luxembourg National Museum of History and Art and Casino Luxembourg – Forum for Contemporary Art from 1996 to 2000. Has published numerous articles and curated several exhibitions, among which the Luxembourg Pavilion at the Venice Biennale 2011. Participated in the development of the Public Art Experience project in Belval.

Charles Muller

Actor, director, drama professor and theatre manager. Studied in Cambridge and Stuttgart. Various acting appointments at Heidelberg and Basel city theatres. Professor at Luxembourg City Music Conservatory and lecturer at the Theatre Faculty of Saarland University of Music. Professor for Theatre at State University for Music and Performing Arts in Stuttgart from 1985. Admitted to highest academic rank in the Federal Republic of Germany in 1989. Director of the Esch/Alzette Municipal Theatre since 2004.
