rockhal

The Rockhal, one of the first major projects on the Belval site, was part of a vast programme launched in 1995, the year in which Luxembourg was nominated European Capital of Culture for the first time. Filling a void in the country’s cultural infrastructure, the Rockhal is defined as a performance venue; a facility for artistic expression and creation, for meetings, for reflexion and exchanges of ideas, a platform to encourage initiatives. Such factors require equipment, which is both complex and flexible, based on the two performance halls and a resource centre. Its display of modernist architecture makes the Rockhal the highlight of the new neighbourhood, contributing significantly to how quickly the latter is being developed.
