lycée bel-val

The construction of a secondary school represented a rare opportunity in the centre of the urban park, linking the residential area to the Square Mile. It established a hub of knowledge in an environment that is filled with history, while simultaneously focusing determinedly on the future. Two symmetrical elements symbolically mark the landscape: to the north, the promontory of trees is reminiscent of the industrial history of the site, counterbalanced by the contemporary glass and steel ring of Lycée Bel-Val, at the southern end of the plateau. The park itself represents a coherent whole, with reference to the wasteland and industrial history of the site, through the deliberately scattered remains, such as concrete blocks and steel pillars.
